My Calming Skincare Routine
I do not know what I did to offend it, but my skin has been FREAKING out lately. At first, my skin just started to feel irritated right after I washed it, but it was fine the rest of the day. Then, I had an unfortunate experience with a "soothing" face mist that just did not agree with my skin. (Excuse me, how dare a skin care product betray me like that?!) After my crazy allergic reaction subsided, my skin had it out for me. So, I've been trying to regain its trust by treating it with as many calming, soothing, gentle products as possible. Here's what I've been using:
Simple Moisturizing Facial Wash// I had been using the exfoliating wash that my dermatologist gave me to battle acne, but it was just getting to be too harsh on my sensitive skin, especially after the face mist incident. I love this because it starts off as a gel, but it lathers up into a milky, sudsy cleanser, so you get the best of both worlds. I've been using this with my charcoal konjac sponge, just to make sure that I'm still getting some exfoliation in and to try to help prevent breakouts. This never makes my skin feel tight or "squeaky clean", just clean and fresh.
Kiehl's Iris Extract Activating Treatment Essence// I've been using this for about a month, and I think it really makes a difference in the hydration level of my skin, as well as the overall glow/tone of my skin. This has a really watery consistency. You just pour two-three drops into your palms and press it over your face until it sinks in. I feel like my skin has been looking a lot brighter and more glowy since I've been using this.
Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil// I've been using this for several months, and I love it. I use this whenever my skin is having any kind of issue, and it always seems at least a bit better by morning. It's so gentle and so hydrating, and it really helps reduce any redness or scarring you may have from acne or other irritations.
Simple Protecting Moisturizer// This is the gentlest, lightest moisturizer I have, and it works great when your skin is freaking out or if you just have sensitive skin in general. It also has SPF 15, so you have a good layer of protection under your regular sunscreen (I use the Glossier one).
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask// This mask is my ultimate savior. It actually has like, bits of oatmeal in it. It feels so soothing as soon as you put it on, and my skin always feels and looks so much calmer after I rinse it off. I've been using this twice or three times a week, and it never breaks me out.
